Step 3

Welcome to ESBS

Candidates who prove to be a good match are offered a spot in the association. Have you already chosen the discussion group you want to attend?

Step 2

Interview

Let's get to know each other better. Shortlisted candidates are invited to an informal online colloquium to chat with current fellows and see whether we are a good match!

FAQs

1 / Do you accept applications from freshmen?

It depends. Seminars are the core activity here at ESBS. Discussing research papers requires some prior knowledge of empirical tools and economic theory. Hardly ever everyone can understand everything in a research paper, but some basics are needed not to slow down the discussion and to get everyone involved. If you have some prior knowledge in economics, then feel free to apply and we will be happy to review your application.

2 / Do I have to be an economics major?

No. While most of our fellows study economics at either undergraduate or graduate level, we are happy to consider applications from students in adjacent fields, as policy and finance. Yet, a strong interest in economics and adequate basic knowledge is required.

3 / I already applied in the past but was not accepted. Should I reapply?

Yes. You should definitely reapply if your interest in economics is strenghtened. Your continued interest in the asssociation is considered a plus in the recruiting process. Additionally, we are happy to provide feedback on your application, should it have a negative outcome, when requested.

4 / I am an exchange student. Can I apply?

Yes. While most of our fellows have a longer tenure within the association of approximately two years, we are more than happy to consider applications from exchange students to bring novel insights from the most diverse possible backgrounds.

5 / Who is your ideal candidate?

There is no ideal candidate. What we are always looking for are bright potential members of a diverse community that share a strong passion for economics. Be ready to prove your appreciation for the subject, and be yourself.

6 / When should I apply?

The earlier, the better. We recruit on a rolling basis, and the first applications received are the first reviewed by our recruiting team. Take your time to prepare carefully your CV and Cover Letter. Once done, don't hesitate submitting it!
